For the month of June 2009, Google Adwords keyword tool shows that over 200,000 Internet searchers looked for information pertaining to the term “American made.” Yet there are not enough results about “American made jewelry” to even show an estimate as to how many people searched for it. Globally, the keyword tool shows that approximately 590 individuals search for “American made jewelry” in a month. Overall, I am extremely disappointed that there really isn’t a strong association between “American made” and “made in America” to the term “jewelry.” And “jewelry” is searched millions upon millions of times a month. Yet there’s little interest in finding out if there’s jewelry that’s made in America.
Believe me, it’s not that I am against they idea of imported luxury goods as a whole. If there is a demand, then there must be a supplier and an American retailer is making hopefully money. However, I do feel that it’s necessary to support our American craftsmen that are struggling right now. And while many imported pieces of jewelry are most likely of the generic variety, I still think that my fellow Americans should take a good hard look as to where the jewelry they are purchasing was manufactured. When it comes to jewelry, I firmly believe in American craftsmanship. Yes – it’s nice to save a few dollars on wedding bands, wedding rings and many other jewelry items. But we need to pay it forward regarding our own industries and economy in general.
Just a thought.

I really enjoy this jewelry and designs.
